There are several ways you can advertise affiliate programs, I am going to list the most effective ways, but by no means this is a comprehensive list.
When you are dealing with affiliate programs or any other internet business, in order to make money you must generate traffic... without traffic (customers) you will make no money. I would highly recommend you get your own website if you are getting involved in affiliate marketing, but if you are short in cash, you can start with a wordpress.org blog, a squidoo.com lense or a hub in hubpages.com
Once you have set up one or more of those free landing pages you have to "advertise" or drive traffic to them. The reason why it is important to create your own pages instead of sending traffic straight to the affiliate offer is that if the offer doesn't sell well, you can always switch the offer and your efforts are not lost.
So here are the tactics I recommend you use to drive traffic to your affiliate programs:
Forums:
Go to google.com and search for forums related to your offer. Join some of these forums and get to know the people in them. Your goal here is not to blast offers left and right. You want to add value to the conversation. Answer questions, post questions, start discussions... you want to show true intent to help. Most forums allow a signature to be placed after every post. You must include the link to your website or affiliate program at the bottom. So remember, be helpful, don't promote!
Social Networks
Join social networks like myspace, facebook, hi5 and such. Search for people that are interested in your offer. For example, if your affiliate program has to do with baseball, look for people that like sports. Ask these people to be your friends and again you don't want to be commercial, you want to provide value and help. If you really show an interest in people, they will come read your profile and your blog (where you can include a link to your offer)
Article Directories
You don't have to be an excelent writer to pull this one off. Write articles related to your offer and submit them to the different article directories online. Your article is not a sales letter, you want to make sure you solve a problem or answer a question with your article, and at the end you include a resource box that links to your offer.
If you are diciplined and do this every day, your affiliate commissions will be rocking in no time!
